Champagne Lallier R.016 Vintage

Vintage Champagne is rare and is only made in the best of years. This Lallier 2016 champagne has a brilliant golden hue, rich aromas of citrus fruit, yellow fruit, almond and subtle spices. Full-bodied, silky, delicious and balanced, with mineral tension at the end of the palate. A long finish that reveals notes of mirabelle plum and caramel pudding.

Producer Name : Champagne Lallier

Made with 56% Pinot noir and 44% Chardonnay, R.016 cuvee is a reflection of a complex year with generous aromas

Vintage Champagnes are made only three to four times a decade and make up less than 5 percent of total Champagne production

The first bottles to bear the Lallier name appeared in 1906, when the Champagne house was founded by René Lallier

The Champagne Vintage Report - 2016 was a difficult, demanding and fast-paced viticultural year for Lallier. The spring was exceptionally cold along with very heavy rainfall. They were also faced with late spring frosts and hail in May causing loss of precious future fruit. Mercifully, they then had a dry, warm summer which brings great maturation of the grapes with high quality of fruit during harvest. However, due to the loss during spring frosts, 2016 was one of the smallest harvest estimated in 20 years. But that meant very good acid/sugar balance, high complexity and delicate aromas.

Meet The Winemaker - Francis Tribault - He is extremely rigorous in his management of production and personally oversees the selection of the grapes. He can often be seen running from press to press at harvest time. Whilst so many aim for higher and higher production levels, Champagne Lallier has chosen the wiser path: a limited production of 400,000 bottles per year. For Francis Tribaut, this is the only way to meet the rigorous in-house quality demands as well as those of its loyal customers.
