Did you know what is the difference between Bourbon and Straight Bourbon?

As defined in the US Law, Straight Bourbon has to aged for minimum of 2 years in charred new oak barrels. However, if a straight whiskey has been aged for less than four years, it is required to be labeled with an age statement describing the actual age of the spirit.

Larceny Kentucky Straight Bourbon is drawn from barrels from that are 6 years old to 12 years old. Thus, it does not require, by law to state the age on the label as it is aged for minimum longer than 4 years.

Another key law for Straight Bourbon is that the "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey" mention is used to indicate a straight whiskey made in Kentucky from a mash of at least 51% corn grain. Other ingredients such as caramel colouring (which is allowed in Scotch) are prohibited in a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
