Perfect Cheese & Wine Matches

Gruyere with Pinot Noir

The fruity notes of a Pinot Noir is the perfect match for the nutty flavours of Gruyere. The subtle aromas and flavours of both of this wine and cheese pair harmoniously without overpowering one another.

Stilton Blue and Port

A classic pairing – for all the right reasons. The stunning luscious sweetness of the port works so well with the tangy, saltiness of the blue cheese. Ports tend to be full bodied and big in character and so pairing a stinky cheese with it is ideal as it can stand up to all those sweet flavours.

Bubbles with Brie

Sparkling Wines with higher Chardonnay content or 100% Chardonnay is perfect for soft textured creamy cheeses. The acidity and richness of sparkling wine works marvellously to cut through the creamy, thick and mouth-coating feel of the Brie and other soft cheeses.

Manchego with Spanish Red

Sometimes you can’t go wrong with wine and food pairing form the same country! This pairing works as they both have sweet-savoury flavours that match together perfectly. The full body found in your average Spanish red blend is a terrific combination with the harder texture of Manchego, while the tannins of the wine contrast with the buttery flavour of the cheese.

Goat’s Cheese with Sauvignon Blanc

We know that Goat’s cheeses can come in many textures and flavours but they are almost always tart and have a hint of earthiness to them. The citrus and mineral notes from a Sauvignon Blanc, especially Sancerre, help bring out the bright and nutty flavours of the cheese. It also helps to keep the palate clean and cuts through the heavy taste of the cheese with sleek acidity and moreish flavours.

Aged Cheddar with Bordeaux Blend

A classic Bordeaux-blend, this Saint-Emillion is made from 100% Grand Cru vineyards and aged in new French oak, is bursting with flavours of plums, blackberry, liquorice, chocolate, and black cherry. This 11 year old wine has lots of structure yet smooth tannins, which makes it a phenomenal pairing with high quality aged Cheddar cheese with lots of crunchy saltiness, a touch of sour note with oodles of savoury acidity!
